I am desperately looking for advice regarding the anti-depressant medication called Leximal. My 21yr old sister has been on anti-depressants for aprox. 2 years and from what I've seen to no avail. It has worsened her state of mind, well-ness and lifestyle in general.
7 Months ago she stopped taking her medication and experienced a complete turnaround in behaviour, attitude, mood, increased energy levels and actually starting interacting socially. She got out of bed and was a pleasure to be around.
She had her check-up with her psychiatrist aprox 2 months ago. She said that my sister was in a vicious spiral and needs to immediately go on new medication due to severe depression. She was experiencing anxiety due to work stress though at this stage; it was exam time.
This is where Lexamil came in. I honestly want to throw those pills down the toilet! She has not left the room and is experiencing all of the negative side effects I've been reading up on and have attached.
I would hugely appreciate advice as to next steps as I honestly believe she needs to leave the pills. The side effects have made her even more depressed (ex weight gain, bad skin, clenched jaw, lack of energy) and like I said she was doing so well before taking it.
I don't want to hurt my sister any further and therefore need to know if she can leave it; is there an alternative like Wellbutrin, Lexapro or something herbal or homeopathic? Can she leave meds in general?
Thanks you so much in advance for your time.
