Telephone counselling

The benefits of telephone counselling

  • Telephone counselling gives a greater sense of anonymity
  • It has no geographical boundariesTelephone counselling
  • It eliminates the need to make special childcare (or other care) arrangements
  • Telephone counselling is time efficient
  • It is ideal for people for whose (public) travel needs are ill-catered for
  • It is potentially an effective way to access counselling

Telephone counselling is likely to be suitable for you if:

  • you are over 18 years of age
  • you have good command of the English language
  • you are not feeling suicidal at the time of your call

I may on occasions suggest that telephone counselling is not ideal/effective for the problem you are presenting.  Don't worry - I much prefer to talk myself out of a job, than give you a poor service!

Very few problems are of an ‘all or nothing’ nature. If you are in any doubt if telephone counselling is right for you, then do call me to discuss.

How to access telephone counselling

To make an appointment for your session telephone: (+44) 01634 856176.  We can briefly talk about what you would like my help with, so that we are set to go when you call back for your appointment.

Telephone counselling sessions are confidential

Telephone counselling is a private and confidential form of help.

I will not pass on any information from or about you to anyone else, with the following exceptions: when it is in the public interest, on disclosure of for example child abuse or threat of harm to other third parties.

Disclosure can also be ordered by a court of law or by the police (with a warrant).

In addition I will reserve the right to inform your local primary care team/doctor or family member if it is my assessment that you intend to harm yourself.

Fees for telephone consultationsHelp and advice

30 minute consultation:  GBP 32
45 minute consultation:  GBP 40

Concessions available for face-to-face counselling only.

Payment is made by PayPal after you have made an appointment and before your telephone counselling session.  I will send you an invoice after we have made an appointment.

  • You have access to my notes about your telephone counselling.

  • I only keep notes relating to telephone counselling sessions for a period of three years, after which they are destroyed.

  • You have the right to request a copy of any information that I hold about you.
